Extracting simplicity and geometrics from the urbanized subjects he explores, Ian seems to emphasize the dominance of industrialization within his community, juxtaposing it with the polluted and almost non-existing presence of natural life.

In this issue Foam present photographers who clearly have a certain way of seeing. Peeking, secretly watching a subject that is not really supposed to be seen, or is unaware of being watched. Flickr Pool – Angelica Ström of Sweden shoots woman in a naturally posed and poised manner, paying close attention to the composition and playing around with the light. By removing the identity of her subjects, Angelica forces her viewer to focus and appreciate the beauty of the human form.

Toronto-based photographer, Andre Vautour, has a lovely set of photographs that feature a combination of levitating patterned shirts and identity-hidden subjects, who together, are all placed and backed by a neutrally plain wall or backdrop. The over exposed aesthetic to his photos are achieved through what I believe is a direct fire of a flash gun or something similar.

Jeremy Edwards is a Chicago-based photographer with an unusual camera setup and an impeccable eye for composition. He began a project entitled “From the Pocket“, where all photographs are simply and modestly captured using Apple’s very own iPhone mobile device. No fancy lenses, camera bodies or expensive lighting here – just a well trained eye and some in-app post processing. The work is really quite remarkable if you ask me.

Jeremy has a ton more of these iPhone-snapped pictures, and quite frankly, some of them are unbelievable. Go take a look for yourself.

Spanish photographer Ibán Ramón has a tendency of framing his subjects smack-dab in the middle of the frame. Turning to industrial, man-made machinery for inspiration, Ibán manages to bring out an indescribable solitude within these massive, steel built noise polluting contraptions, giving each one their own sense of self and belonging. His use of tones and colors are also worth mentioning.

I personally favored this genre of photos from Ibán’s collection, but he also shoots a great deal of people. Check it all out, here.

Making great use of white space, Dutch photographer Jordi Huisman captures a number of hauntingly silent and vacant spaces in a series entitled It’s Better to Stay Home. The images appear to have been taken in some sort of old-folks home or in a sterile medical holding center of some kind.

This stop-motion video is by a Singapore graphic design student who goes by the name of saggyarmpit on Vimeo. Putting a twist on the classic rendition of the flip book, the Parkour Motion Reel maps out and narrates the story an intricate and heavily planned manner, which was then laid out on a table top to be captured frame by frame. It’s even backed by some Dr. Dre!
